Tulips in November (Wommelgem 1991) 10 interventions in the retirement home in Wommelgem. Pierre Mertens brought Alzheimer’s disease as the starting point for his exhibition at the Kallement retirement home in Wommelgem. He also invited 5 colleagues to do the same. Where she worked with an admiration from the retirement home, Pierre Mertens was looking for an elderly woman, Marcella, who still lived at home with her husband Louis. He entered into a relationship with them and wrote the book “Tulips in November”. (publisher Dedalus 1992)) He gave Marcella the gallery and he internally interned his art interventions deep in the retirement home.
