The hideen collection of the town Zoersel (1989)

The hidden art collection (Zoersel 1989) Pierre Mertens covered all the artworks of the municipality of Zoersel overpainted clothes with its frequently used motif. Jan Hoet opened the exhibition and said that the artist underlines the banality by covering it. He compared Mertens to a monk who patiently paints his motif like monks transcribed books. The red carpet of the town hall was also painted over and he placed fairground ducks in the water treatment station. In the corridors he made music boxes from vinyl records.
