The hidden art collection (Zoersel 1989)

Pierre Mertens hung over all works of art from the municipality of Zoersel with his commonly used motifs. Jan Hoet opened the exhibition and said that the artist underlined the banality by covering it. He compared Mertens to a monk who patiently paints his motif as monks copy books.

The red carpet of the town hall was also painted over and he placed fairground ducks in the water purification station. He made music boxes from vinil plates in the corridors.
